Hydro-Québec Regional Science & Technology Fair

The annual Hydro-Québec Montreal Regional Science & Technology Fair will take place from Sunday, March 25 to Tuesday, March 27 on Concordia University’s downtown campus. During this one-of-a-kind competition, emerging scientists aged 13 to 20 will present their scientific projects to visitors in creative and accessible ways that express their passion for science and technology. Organized by Educational Alliance for Science & Technology, in partnership with Concordia, this is the fourth successive year that the fair will take place at the university, and a recent agreement now extends the partnership through 2020.

“A research-based education gives students, in all levels of study, an invaluable foundation in methods and methodology, which will ultimately lead them to being better professionals and contributors to society. Thousands of exhibitors from all across the province

During last year’s Hydro-Québec Science Fairs, thousands of students between the ages of 6 and 20 submitted projects in the various levels of the competition.

A total of 1,433 students made it to one of the 12 Regional Finals at the Secondary/Collegiate level or one of the 9 Regional Finals at the Primary level of the Hydro-Québec Science Fairs competition. Among them, 174 earned a place in the Super Expo-sciences Hydro-Québec, Québec Final, held in April.

The adventure continues

Admission to all of the Regional Finals is free. Anyone interested in visiting is invited to view the schedule at exposciences.qc.ca for the dates of the competition nearest them. Otherwise, they can visit the must-see event of the 2018 competition season, the 40th edition of the Super Expo-sciences Hydro-Québec, Québec Final, which takes place from April 19 to 22, 2018, at Espace Shawinigan in Mauricie. Access to the site is free for the whole family!

A delegation of Québec competitors will also compete in the Canada-Wide Science Fair, being held from May 12 to 19 at Carleton University in Ottawa. Another delegation will be then head to the International Science Fair in France, from May 20 to 25.

Réseau Technoscience
Réseau Technoscience and its regional organizations are present throughout Québec with the goal of fostering interest in science and technology among young people aged 4 to 20. Through their programs and activities, they promote emergence of the next generation of scientists as well as support science and technology teaching via a concrete approach. The Educational Alliance for Science & Technology
